CRENoS (Centro Ricerche Economiche Nord-Sud) is one of the leading economic institutions in Italy with a staff of 40 researchers; it was founded in 1993 and since 2003 is a section of CIREM an interuniversities research department between the University of Cagliari and Sassari.
CRENoS has a specific research expertise in the areas of Innovation, Intangible Knowledge, Human Capital and Regional Economic Growth. CRENoS promotes several events and dissemination activities (international conferences, workshops, seminaries) on agglomeration and spillover effects, new economic geography, tourism, human capital, applied econometrics, public institution and policy.
CRENoS participates in several international research projects. Among them, COST (Small and medium enterprises, economic development and regional convergence in Europe); V Framework Program (The Internal and External Impacts of Eastern Enlargement of the EU (CEPS, Brussels)-Wage Inequality and Unemployment Divergence according to Skill in the EU (Lille, France), 2000); COFIN, (“Firms’ financing-investment activity, and dynamics of interregional convergence in the European Community”, 2002); Cost Action A17 (Small and Medium Enterprises, Economic Development and Regional Convergence in Europe, 2004); FSE Art.6 (Employment Development Adaptability, 2005); Interreg III (Regions on line) B-Medocc.
